HC quashes FIR by minister’s PS against scribe

Hyderabad: Justice K. Surender of the Telangana High Court on Monday quashed an FIR filed against a journalist by transport minister’s personal secretary Sadineni Kiran Kumar.

The contention of the de facto complainant was that the journalist had defamed the minister live on television and had to be punished for the offence. Kiran Kumar complained that if he was left free there were chances he may commit the same mistake in the future as there were around 30 cases pending in his name of similar nature.

On the other hand, counsel for the petitioner contended that all the cases pending were malicious and false. The court while hearing the arguments observed that the personal secretary of the minister cannot file any complaint on his behalf.
