Pondicherry gearing up for swine flu treatment
Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Monday assured that his government was taking necessary steps in containing swine flu that so far has claimed two lives in the Union Territory.
"The health department is taking all necessary steps to prevent the spread of the diseases. A detailed discussion was held with the director of health services and a special doctors team was constituted for providing treatment, " said the Chief Minister while talking to reporters here.
" Necessary medicines have been stocked in all hospitals here. A special ward with eight beds was arranged for swine flu at the government general hospital. Apart from this, spraying of insecticides to combat the mosquito menace was also being taken up by the municipal authorities", he added.
Earlier in the day speaking at a function organised in the PCC office here, to mark the 69th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Narayanasamy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is adopting an "authoritarian" rule at the Centre.
" Ministers in the Cabinet are not having any powers as the entire powers wrested with the Prime Minister's office", said Narayanasamy and charged that the Prime Minister is torturing the public by his reforms.
