Mini tribal festival to be held in Medaram in February

Warangal: A mini version of the biennial Sammakka Saralamma Jatara tribal festival will be held from February 1 to 4 of 2023, officials of the Jatara Pujarula
Sangham announced Tuesday, following a temple executive meeting in Medaram village of Mulugu district.

While the state government conducts the main event once every two years, the
Medaram temple priests conduct a mini tribal festival in the intervening
years on devotees’ requests. During this period, villagers will come
together to clean the temple before holding the festivities.

Siddaboina Jagga Rao, the president of the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara
Pujarula Sangham, said that the mini tribal fair will be held every two
years on a grand note at Medaram to worship the tribal Goddess Sammakka and
Saralamma.

He said that the jatara will begin on Wednesday and end on Saturday with
special prayers to the presiding deities, by worshipping them with turmeric
and vermilion as part of the Manda Melige ritual followed by tribal priests.

The members of the Pujaralu Sangham urged the district authorities to make
all necessary arrangements for the arrival of thousands of devotees to the
event.
