HC directs TS to provide details of toilets set up for girl students in schools

Hyderabad: A division bench of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy issued notices to the government in a suo motu taken-up public interest litigation on the lack of adequate toilets for girl students in schools.

The court asked government counsel: “Day in and day out we speak empowerment of women and girl child rights, then why the failure in providing basic facilities to girl students in government schools?” The court directed the government to submit details how many schools had toilets , by January 29.

The division bench issued notice to the Chief Secretary, principal secretary and Director of School Education.

The High Court had converted a media report into the PIL A. Sanjeev Kumar, government pleader disputed the information in the report. He sought time to file an affidavit.
