Kottathala: Milk van kills woman on morning walk

According to Kottarakkara police, the incident took place by around 6.30 am when the women were on their routine morning walk.

KOLLAM: A 45-year-old woman died and three others were injured when a milk van rammed onto them during their morning walk at Panayil junction in Kottathala here on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Lathika Kumari, Thekkedathu Veedu, Kuravanchira in Kottathala. Mili, 35, of Elluvila veedu in Panayil, Mini, 36, of Bhagyasree in Panayil, and Geetha, 36, Parakkal in Kuravanchira have been admitted to the Kottarakkara Taluk hospital with minor injuries.

According to Kottarakkara police, the incident took place by around 6.30 am when the women were on their routine morning walk. A milk van that came from Kottarakkara side lost control and rammed into them at the Panayil junction along the Puthoor – Kottarakkara road. Lathika Kumari was left with serious injuries on her head as she was thrown to a nearby canal under the impact. She was declared as brought dead when the local residents took her to the Kottarakkara taluk hospital and then to a nearby private hospital. Lathika Kumari leaves behind her son Akhil Nath. Her husband Ashokan Unnithan died a few years back.
