Karnataka issues notice against use of KSRTC'

The notice pointed out that the corporation held all the rights to the brand.

Thiruvananthapuram: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has sent legal notices to over 18 entities like app developers, bloggers and website owners to remove any names, words and logos with ‘KSRTC’ or face the consequences. The notice pointed out that the corporation held all the rights to the brand.

Karnataka RTC which has in its possession the trademark KSRTC is in a battle with the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation. KSRTC Blog of Kerala RTC fans, which provided information and bus timings, was among the entities that got the notice. Incidentally, the Kerala RTC also had, in July this year, sent a notice to blogger Sujith Bhakthan who owns ksrtcblog.com, asking him to stop the use of the word 'KSRTC immediately.

Mr Bhakthan said he was a victim of the ongoing battle between the two state-run entities. “I have not been publishing any details of the Karnataka RTC like fares or schedules in my blog. I am also not using any content from their website,” he told DC. "In the case of Kerala, their argument was that the blog was giving details like their fares and schedules of services."
