Poverty in AP reduced under Jagan's rule, says minister Nageswara

Kakinada: Minister for civil supplies Karumuri Nageswara Rao has said poverty has reduced in Andhra Pradesh under the YSRC rule, while the literacy rate has risen too.

“AP now ranks third least poor in the national poverty index. Literacy rate has improved too, as the state rose to the third position from the 17th,” he claimed.

He was speaking at the YSRC’s Samajika Sadhikara Bus Yatra at Denduluru constituency in Eluru district on Monday. Ministers Jogi Ramesh, Merugu Nagarjuna, Vidudala Rajini, Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh and Denduluru MLA Abbayya Chowdary were also present.

Nageswara Rao said the government spent '2800 crore in Denduluru constituency during the past four and half years and the state government was trying its best to eradicate poverty through its welfare schemes.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy has implemented not only the welfare schemes, but he also has given top political posts to the Yadava community," he said.

Minister Rajini said no politician had thought of helping the poor and weaker sections in the past. Now, Jagan Reddy is giving more benefits to these sections at the political and financial levels to the BCs, SCs, STs and Minorities. He also brought revolutionary changes in the education and medical sectors.”

Minister Nagarjuna alleged that former Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar “is a gambler, a corrupt politician and he has insulted the Dalits.”

Housing minister Jogi Ramesh said that the YSRC Bus Yatra was receiving a huge response from the people. “Previously, if any BC or weaker section persons wanted to be a ward member, he used to go to the upper caste people to fulfill his wish. Now, Jagan Reddy has given top priority to SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities.”

Denduluri MLA Abbayya Chowdary said the people of Denduluru constituency would back the YSRC. Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh alleged that Chandrababu has bestowed a property of '500 crore to his grandson whereas Jagan has given “a thousand crore to the poor by way of welfare schemes.” He criticised Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for “mortgaging” his fans to the Telugu Desam.
