Mancherial: Lambadas attack forest beat officer

The Nennela police filed cases against the four accused, Balu Naik, Mounika, Srinivas and Rajesh involved in the attack.

Mancherial: Four Lambada farmers of Lambadi thanda attacked forest beat officer, Daida Swapna, 30, for removing the mango plants they had raised in the forests lands which they have been cultivating for a long time near Kothapalli village in Nennela mandal, Mancherial district on Tuesday.

This was the second incident in the old Adilabad district after local people of Sarasala, led by MLA Koneru Konappa’s brother, Koneru Krishna, attacked the forest staff. Forest beat officer, Chole Anitha, was injured in Kagaznagar mandal in Kumarambheem Asifabad district on June 30, 2019.

The Nennela police filed cases against the four accused, Balu Naik, Mounika, Srinivas and Rajesh involved in the attack.

Swapna suffered minor injuries on her neck and hand.

The Lambadas allegedly pelted stones at her and sprinkled mirchi powder on her. She was shifted to Bellampalli government hospital and from there, referred to Mancherial hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Forest staff allege that the local farmers attack them despite repeated appeals to not raise the mango plants in the forest land as it belonged to the forest department.
