Hyderabad: Central aid for burn wards at distt. hospitals
Hyderabad: In order to ensure that the cases of burn-related injuries are given proper treatment, the Union Government is providing financial assistance to state governments under the National Health Mission (NHM) scheme. These funds are meant to establish special burn wards in district hospitals.
The Centre had already released Rs 6.57 crore to Andhra Pradesh government for establishing a burns and cosmetic ward in Guntur government general hospital.
The Telangana state government is also seeking Union government assistance to construct burns ward in government hospitals at all district headquarters. At present, except the Osmania and Gandhi General hospitals in Hyderabad, there are no full-fledged specialised wards available in the entire State. However, these wards are faced with shortage of trained healthcare staff. According to state healthcare department, about 70,000 people suffer from burn related injuries every year in the state.
