External agency to study Kerala University staff work load

The results of the study would be forwarded to the state government to seek additional posts.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala University will commission a study by an external agency to assess the work load of its employees. This was necessitated since the present staff pattern was decided on the basis of the work load assessed many years ago. Since then, the university has started many courses. It was decided at the meeting of the Syndicate held here the other day. The results of the study would be forwarded to the state government to seek additional posts.

In order to streamline the employment atmosphere in the university, it was also decided to remove contract employees once the appointments are made from the PSC assistant rank list. Those who were appointed last would be the first to be removed, sources said. The Syndicate also decided to seek the legal opinion of the standing counsel before handing over the appointments in computer assistant vacancies to PSC. Relating to the promotions of assistants who were appointed from the rank list prepared from the written test held in 2005, it was decided to approach the High Court seeking its opinion. The case related to the appointments from the list is now under judicial scrutiny.
