City to host IGBC green building congress

HYDERABAD: The city will host the 20th edition of IGBC's (Indian Green Building Council) green building congress 2022 at HICC from October 20 to 22.

This edition’s theme 'Advancing net zero buildings and built-environment', is aimed at further sensitizing people and preparing a roadmap to achieve net zero emissions in the country by 2070 with support from CII.

Speaking on the occasion C. Shekar Reddy, chairman, IGBC Hyderabad chapter, said “with over 20 international speakers lined up for the event, there will be exclusive sessions on green homes, green products, materials and the latest technologies. The 3,000 delegates will include architects, builders, developers, engineers, contractors, planners, consultants, corporate and government officials, green product manufacturers, procurement officials, project owners, representatives from IT companies and educational institutions and technology providers.”

M. Anand, deputy executive director, IGBC, said “the 'IGBC Green’ rating system will focus on climate change. Ongoing projects can help achieve energy and water savings up to 40%, reduce operating costs, enhance health and well-being of the occupants and conserve natural resources and build a sustainable future.”
