Treatment at LV Prasad raises eyebrows

Hospital in question has refused to divulge details about patients.

Hyderabad: Patients who suffered botched surgeries are undergoing treatment at LV Prasad Eye Hospital and not at the state-run Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, raising eyebrows at government’s stand.

A senior government doctor said the government was not keen on having any evaluation at the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in an election year.

“They are banking on a private hospital for keeping the reports confidential as it is a government scheme where problems have come up,” he said. LV Prasad Eye Hospital has refused to give any details of the condition of the patients.

As many as 18 persons who underwent cataract surgery at a private hospital in Hanamkonda on September 22 under the Kanti Velugu programme suffered from infection leading to problems with their vision.
