SCR worker held for threatening TSSPDCL agent

The collection agent told the SCR employee that if he defaulted, he had to cut the power supply after which he threatened him.

Hyderabad: A collection agent of TSSPDCL who approached a resident of Santoshima Nagar in Neredmet to collect the pending electricity bill was threatened with a knife, following which the police arrested the resident on Saturday.

The man, identified as Shanker Roy, 59, a technician in South Central Railways in Nampally, threatened collection agent B. Srisailam, who went to collect the electricity bill for September as it is almost the end of month, said police inspector of Neredmet A. Narasimha Reddy.

“Srisailam went to Shivasai Nilayam in Santoshima Nagar and requested Shanker to pay the pending amount following which he threatened him with a knife and used criminal force to deter the public servant from discharging his duty.”

“The agent told Roy that if he failed to pay up, he would have to cut the power supply after which Roy threatened him with dire consequences” said the official.

A complaint was lodged with Neredmet police following which Roy was booked under Arms Act and IPC and was placed under arrest.
