Kozhikode: Kozhikode Town SI P.M. Vimodh, who was under suspension for attacking journalists and holding them in custody, was reinstated on Thursday. Mr Vimodh reported to Kannur range IG Dinendra Kashyap. His duty station will be decided later, but he would be placed outside Kannur range, said the IG. His suspension was withdrawn after a review meeting of the police committee, but the punishment against him is still in operation.
A final decision on it will be decided after the probe, which might take another month, said Mr Kashyap. It was on July 30 that Mr Vimodh was suspended following the confrontation with a team of visual media journalists here. After an incident in the morning on the same day, the same team was attacked in the afternoon at his station following which the city police commissioner suspended him. The case was taken up in the High Court and some clauses in a case against him were quashed.
