TU's bifurcated assets not yet transferred to AP

Kakinada: Telugu and Sanskrit Academy chairperson N. Lakshmi Parvathi said all bifurcated assets of Telugu University are yet to be transferred to Andhra Pradesh.
Participating as chief guest at the distribution of “Hamsa Puraskars” to eminent people in different fields at Adikavi Nannayya University in Rajamahendravaram on Tuesday, she said due to efforts made by the academy, some assets have been transferred. “Efforts are on to get remaining assets,” she underlined.
She said after Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy established the Telugu and Sanskrit Academy in AP, it has taken up many literary and language development programmes. Textbooks are being published and writers encouraged.
The academy chairperson said as part of encouraging literary personalities, the academy is awarding “Hamsa Awards” in a transparent manner.
Presiding over the meeting, Adikavi Nannayya vice-chancellor K. Padma Raju said Telugu language is unique. He pointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning in his Man Ki Baat programme that Telugu is one of the heritage languages of the country with priceless works in Telugu literature.
The university felicitated Telugu and Sanskrit retired professor Salaka Raghunatha Sarma on the occasion. Responding, he said Telugu language has transformed in many ways from the times of Adikavi Nannayya to the present times. Currently, Telugu has secured a special status in the country.
Civil supplies minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao recalled that former chief ministers late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and late N.T. Rama Rao have made considerable efforts for developing the Telugu language.
S. Abdul Aziz, Modugula Ravi Krishna, Jada Subba Rao, Jakku Ramakrishna, Y.H.K. Mohana Rao, Yadavailli Bharathi, Madabhushi Sampath Kumar Acharyulu, Suram Srinivaslu and K.V.N.D. Vara Prasad received the Hamsa Puraskars on the occasion.
Rajamahendravaram MP Margani Bharat and YSRC leader Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi were among those present.
