No drinking water supply in Guntur west areas for 36 hours

Drinking water supply in West constituency areas of the Vijayawada will remain disrupted from Thursday evening to Saturday morning

Vijayawada: Guntur Municipal Corporation commissioner Chekuri Keerthi has informed citizens that drinking water supply in West constituency areas of the city will remain disrupted from Thursday evening to Saturday morning for carrying out repairs to pipelines.

She appealed to people of the area to cooperate with the GMC and store drinking water in advance.

Keerthi explained that the 800 mm diameter pipeline that supplies drinking water from Nehru Nagar Reservoir to HLR has developed a leak at the Sanjeevaiah Nagar railway gate. As a result, drinking water is getting wasted. An action plan has been formulated to repair this leak after supplying drinking water on Thursday morning.

The commissioner said the repair work will go on till Saturday morning. Drinking water supply will resume as usual from Saturday evening.

In the interim, water supply will not be available from Thursday evening to Saturday morning in areas including Lakshmipuram, Stambhalagaruvu, Gujjanagundla, AT Agraharam, AMC, Housing Board, Court Compound, KVP Colony, Vikas Nagar, Shyamala Nagar and Hanumayya Nagar under Guntur West constituency.

Keerthi underlined that if people of these areas run into an emergency, they can call the VMC call centre on 0863-2345103 and 104. Drinking water will be supplied to their areas using water tankers.
