Nacin holds free eye check-up camp

Ananthapur: National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (Nacin) organised a free eye check-up camp on Sunday at the Zilla Parishad School in Palasamudram village of Gorantla mandalam in Satya Sai district.

Inaugurating the camp, Nacin additional director G. Narayanaswamy said their academy in Palasamudram has employed 60 local people, including women. He underlined that once the academy becomes fully functional, there will also be people from foreign countries who will be enrolling in the academy. This will contribute to development of the area, he stated.

Narayanaswamy underlined that the union government has according top priority to the Nacin project by sanctioning a railway line to Palasamudram. A railway station will soon be functional adjacent to the Nacin campus, he said.
About 370 people from Palasamudram ,Thungodu Bellalacheruvu, Kaveti Nagapalli and Bayalapalle villages participated in the free eye check-up camp, which was organised under the supervision of Dr. Narpat Solanki. The team found that at least 30 percent of villagers require cataract surgery. Surgeries on them will be performed free of cost in two to three batches starting from Monday at the Jain Hospital in Chikkaballapur.

About 270 bi-focal spectacles were given to patients free of cost at the camp.
