Vijayawada: AP Endowments Department commissioner Hari Jawahar Lal on Sunday clarified that authorities are collecting no fee for setting up Vinayaka Chavithi mandapas in any of the areas of the state.

He described as “fake” messages that have been circulating on social media that a fee is being collected from each Ganesh mandapam that is being set up on the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi.

Jawahar Lal asked people not to believe such rumours or pay anybody who demands such money. He warned that legal action will be taken against those who are collecting any kind of fee or subscription.

The commissioner asked pandal organisers to contact their respective police stations or revenue officials for setting up pandals in their areas.
