MLA P V Anvar booked in land grab case

Mr Anvar denied the charges and accused the police of registering a first information report without even a preliminary investigation.

MALAPPURAM: The Pookkottumpadam police has booked Nilambur legislator P.V. Anwar and 18 others on an alleged land grab attempt. Ms Jaya Murukesh Narendran, a Kollam native and co-owner of the Regal Estate in Nilambur, in her complaint to the police, alleged that Mr Anwar with the help of goons was trying to encroach a portion of the rubber estate claiming ownership without any legally valid documents.

She says the MLA has also threatened the manager of the property and employees and the local goons trespassed the land on his orders. Mr Anwar denied the charges and accused the police of registering a first information report without even a preliminary investigation. “All the allegations are baseless and part of a tussle within the family members of the complainant over its partition," he claimed over the phone from Mumbai.

"Some of her family members had approached me seeking help to settle the dispute. I had no business interest in the land and didn’t even try to buy it.” “They are putting me under the shadow of suspicion over an ongoing civil dispute which is in the court. Details of the entire episode will be disclosed on Tuesday to clear the air,” he told DC.
