App for booking bus tickets soon
Chennai: In order to ease the difficulty in booking tickets for government buses, the state transport department plans to launch a mobile app to reserve tickets in the State Express Transport Corporation and Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation long distance bus service, transport minister M.R. Vijayabhaskar announced.
Replying to the debate on the demand for the transport department in the assembly, he said booking of tickets through mobile app for the long distance buses would be implemented in SETC and TNSTC services.
Like in the railways, four seats on government long distance buses would be allotted through Tatkal basis for the people who wanted to travel due to emergencies, Mr Vijayabhaskar said. He also announced that a depot in every transport corporation would be given a cash award of Rs 2 lakh if did not cause any fatal accidents.
He also said that 10 speed radar guns would be provided the enforcement officials of the transport department at a cost of Rs 95 lakh. Amma Drivers Training Centre would be opened in Tiruchy, Madurai and Salem automobile workshop under the motor vehicle maintenance department to provide refresher training to the government department motor drivers and to those joining work, the minister said, adding that steps would be taken to start MD courses in the Perundurai Medical College in 2018-19.
