Sabitham waterfall closed off to visitors due to heavy inflow

KARIMNAGAR: Ramagundam commissioner of police Rema Rajeshwari on Saturday said that the Sabitham waterfall in the Peddapalli district was closed off to visitors due to safety concerns following the death of a youth at the cascade, which was receiving heavy inflows.

The CP, along with other police officials, inspected the safety arrangements at the waterfall where one M. Venkatesh, who went to the spot along with his four friends from Karimnagar, accidentally slipped into the gushing waterfall and subsequently drowned while two others were rescued three days ago.

She said that since there was a heavy inflow, the Sabitham waterfall was put o out of bounds for visitors and locals. The restriction will be in place until the floodwater recedes to normalcy.

She directed the officials to keep a vigil at the waterfall to avoid such accidents. Peddapalli DCP Vaibhav Gaikwad, ACPs A. Mahesh and T. Srinivas Rao, CIs Anil Kumar and Satish, Traffic inspector Satyanarayana and ASI Venkatesh were present.
