CPM asks cadre to keep restraint
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM asks cadre to maintain restraint even in grave provocation even as attack on party offices continued in some parts of the state. A party office was attacked in Pathanamthitta while the house of a CPM leader was targeted in Kattakada in Thiruvananthapuram district. The CPM leadership has called for restraint even in the face of grave provocation from the RSS-BJP. The party is wary of the RSS-BJP agenda in the state. In the run up to the Lok Sabha polls, the CPM fears that the Sangh Parivar might scale up attacks on the party and front organisations.
“The RSS strategy is to create trouble in the state and then project that the law and order situation in LDF ruled state was bad. Already the BJP has launched a propaganda against the LDF Government,” CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said. The attack on the BJP state committee office has not been taken well by the party leadership. Though the attack was in retaliation to the targeting of the councillor and his family, it is felt that at a time when the party is ruling the state, incidents like these would only help in strengthening the ‘enemy’ propaganda against the party.
The CPM leadership has asked the cadre to keep the focus on the corruption of BJP leaders particularly the recent MCI scam. Since the medical college bribe issue was only tip of the iceberg, many more skeletons are likely to tumble from their cupboard. “BJP wants to engage us on the streets as they want to divert the focus from their multi-crore scam. The role of the Central Government has also come under the scanner. Hence our party members should not fall in the trap,” said a senior leader. The CPM leadership believes that politically the party was in an advantageous position because of the crisis in the BJP. Hence it was all the more necessary to avoid stupid actions at this stage.
