ACB seizes Rs 78 lakh cash from trapped officer's residence in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Thursday seized ₹78 lahks in cash, 15 tolas of gold, postal deposits and documents of lands estimated to be worth ₹10 crore following searches at the house of Survey and Land Records assistant director Shyamsunder Reddy in Hyderabad.

The ACB had caught Shyamsunder Reddy red-handed in Nizamabad on Wednesday while demanding and accepting a ₹10,000 bribe from a farmer to do an official favour. Shyamsunder Reddy is a native of Sangareddy district who had been working as assistant director of Survey and Land Records in Mahabubnagar district.

Following complaints against him, the Mahabubnagar district collector surrendered him to the government. Subsequently, Shyamsunder Reddy got posted as assistant director in the Nizamabad district, where corruption charges against him continued. Finally, the ACB sleuths caught him red-handed on Wednesday with ₹ 10,000 cash.
