AC demands bribe from Rocket Raja gang, kept on wait list
Chennai: A day after a set of call recordings featuring C.S. Muthalagu, assistant commissioner of police, Teynampet, and an accomplice of jailed Rocket Raja surfaced on social media, DGP T.K. Rajendiren transferred the AC and kept him in the waiting list.
In the call recordings, one of the men, thought to be Muthalagu, is demanding Rs 5 lakh from Prakash, an accomplice of gangster Rocket Raja, for acting on their favours. The call recordings were leaked on Monday. The phone conversation was recorded in February, before the arrest of Prakash.
Although the tainted assistant commissioner debunked the charges initially, he was transferred to Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Chennai police on Monday. “Meanwhile, the department had initiated an enquiry that reportedly ascertained that Muthalagu had demanded a bribe. He was then transferred from CCB and kept in the waiting list,” a source said.
The city police had arrested Rocket Raja along with Prakash and others from a star hotel in Teynampet on May 6.
