THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Venu Rajamony, the Indian Ambassador-designate to the Netherlands, hopes to strengthen bilateral cooperation in sectors like tourism, agriculture, water recycling, waste management, industry and information technology. “India, especially Kerala, and the Netherlands had strong historical connections, which has gone into oblivion,” the Keralite IFS officer, who is on a Bharat Darshan tour as a prelude to taking up the new assignment, told a meet-the-press programme here on Monday.
He said he would be meeting top executives of Dutch firms with a presence in India as well as ministers and top officials of various states including Kerala.
He also visited a Technopark company providing real-time transport solutions to Netherlands. “Already about 200 Indian companies have operations in the Netherlands and the same number of Dutch here. The Netherlands is business-friendly with tax concessions to expatriates and proactive policies,” he said.
They support a waste separation and water recycling projects in Bengaluru, which could be replicated in Kerala. The former press secretary to President Pranab Mukherjee said had made the Rashtrapathi Bhavan more accessible to people. Residency programmes were conducted for various sections of the society so that they could stay there and understand its functioning, he said.
