Girls outshine boys in ICSE grades

Girls achieved a 100% pass percentage in ICSE Class X and 99.82% in the ISC Class XII exams.

KOCHI: In the Class X ICSE and Class XII ISC exam results of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which were declared on Monday, girls outdone boys in the state with cent per centage and 99.82 per cent, respectively. In the ICSE results, boys achieved a pass per centage of 99.86 per cent while in ISC, boys have a collective pass per centage of 99.54 per cent. Gokul Prasad R of Trinity Lyceum, Fatima Road, Kollam, secured the top rank in the state in ISC Exam by securing 393 marks at 98.25 per cent, followed by George Zachariah V of Loyola School, Thiruvananthapuram, Nihal Shah Peediakal and Mrinal Shankar of St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram and Adhithyaa G of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram with 392 marks at 98 per cent of the total marks. In the third place are Ashwin Kalarikkal Shekharan of Christ Vidyanikethan of Irinjalakkuda, Maria P James and Anjana Babu of St Patricks Academy, Angamaly and Fabi Rasheed of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram with 391 marks and a per centage of 97.75.

In the Class X ICSE exam, the Kerala topper is Meenakshi S of Holy Angel's ISC School, Thiruvananthapuram with 495 marks at a pass per centage of 99. Parvathi S. Hari of St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram finished second with 493 marks at a pass per centage of 98.6 while Karthik C Narayan of the same school finished third along with Megha Niranjan Nair of L'ecole Chempaka,Thiruvananthapuram, with 492 marks at a pass per centage of 98.4. Altogether a total of 7,269 students from 149 schools appeared for the ICSE exam across the state this year, while 2,174 students 56 schools sat for the ISC exam. For the ICSE exam, 3,520 boys and 3,749 girls appeared while 1,079 boys and 1,095 girls appeared for the ISC exam. The CISCE takes English plus four best subjects for calculating ranks in ICSE while in ISC this is English plus best three subjects.

The total pass per centage in the state in ICSE this year stood at 99.93 while in ISC it is 99.68. Only five students from the state failed to pass the ICSE exam while in ISC five boys and two girls could not cross over the exam. The ICSE examination are conducted in 57 written subjects of which 22 are Indian languages and nine are foreign languages. The ISC examination are conducted in 50 written subjects of which 16 are Indian languages and 5 are foreign languages. A total of 188 Scheduled Caste candidates took the examination achieving a pass per centage of 99.47 per cent while five Scheduled Tribe candidates took the examination from the state achieving a pass per centage of 100 per cent. A total of 3,438 Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates took the examination achieving a pass per centage of 99.91 per cent.

In the ISC examination, a total of 31 Scheduled Caste candidates took the examination achieving a pass per centage of 100 per cent while one Scheduled Tribe candidate took the examination achieving a pass per centage of 100 per cent. A total of 924 Other Backward Classes candidates took the examination achieving a pass per centage of 99.57 per cent. Most of the schools in the state recorded cent per cent results in the ICSE and ISC examinations. Those from Kochi included Seventh Day Adventist School at Kaloor which took 51 ICSE students to success shore with 34 distinctions while in ISC it had 22 distinctions out of 39 students passed. At MES School, Udyogamandal, all 53 students of ICSE passed with 28 getting distinction and all 16 ISC students passed with eight getting distinction. At St Aloysius Convent School Palluruthy, all 127 out of 128 ICSE students passed while in ISC this was 17 out of 18. At Shanthi Vidyalaya Edakochi, six out of six ICSE students passed while at Our Lady of Mercy, Aroor, all 105 ICSE students passed , at St Joseph's Public School, Pattanakkad, all 184 ICSE students came out with flying colours, all 64 ICSE students at St Ann's Public School, Cherthala, all 25 students at Auxilium English Medium School, Palluruthy, all10 students at Holy Angel's School, Aroor, all 12 students at Stella Mary English Medium School, Udayamperoor and all 13 students at Carmel Public School, Vypeen,

All the 26 students of M K Latha Memorial Public School, Konny got first class in ICSE exam. At the Seventh Day Adventist School, Pathanamthitta, 102 students passed ICSE exam while 34 students successfully crossed over ISC exam. At Holy Angel's ISC School, Nanthancode, Thiruvananthapuram, 38 out of 63 students passed got distinction while 22 got first class in the ISC exam while in the ICSE exam, out of the 148 appeared and passed, 135 got distinction. At Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Nalanchira, Thiruvananthapuram , in the ICSE stream 164 students appeared, of which 146 got distinction and 18 students got first class. Gokul L.P. secured 586 out of 600 and Rini Raju became the second with 583 out of 600. In the ISC stream 82 students appeared and 62 got distinction. Adhithyaa G. secured 98 per cent by scoring 490 out of 500 and Fabi Rasheed, the second top scorer with 488 out of 500. (List incomplete)
