AP public transport officials seek health data from all employees
VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh public transport department (APPTD) asked for the health profile records of all employees working in APPTD and Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to find out their health status and initiate appropriate action in the wake of the deaths of nearly 400 employees due to various health issues every year in the state.
The APPTD commissioner issued a notification here on Saturday advising all the depot managers and unit officers to get the details of the health profiles of all the employees in a proper format and submit them to the head office by May 15.
Accordingly, the depot managers and unit officers are asked to collect the health profiles from all the employees working in their respective units/depots along with relevant physical copies of medical records and reports. The data furnished by the employees will be consolidated at the head office level, and on completion of data entry, the health profile declaration form along with relevant medical records and reports shall be sent through special messenger to the officer concerned for record.
The commissioner said that in the aftermath of Covid-19 pandemic, the number of medically unfit cases, deaths on account of ill health, and applications seeking OD duties were going up year after year, and the number of employees proceeding on extraordinary leave (EoL) and staying in local hospitals on the grounds of ill health had reached alarming levels. He added that given the situation, they were collecting data on the health status of all employees.
