Kerala: IMD issues yellow alert in 3 districts today
Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has issued 'yellow' alert at Ernakulam, Malappuram and Wayanad for Tuesday in view of Cyclone Fani, which is moving towards Odisha Coast.
As per the Indian Meteorology Department forecast, all three districts are likely to get heavy and isolated rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm on Tuesday. Indian Meteorology Department has predicted high sea waves along the Kerala coast.
The Indian Meteorology Department has forecasted squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 Kmph on Tuesday.
In view of the warning, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has warned the fisherman not to venture into the sea until further notice. KSDMA has advised the public to avoid hill areas, especially during the night.
On Monday, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Wayanad districts received thunderstorm accompanied with rain and gusty winds, speed reaching 40-50 kmph.
