Cops injured in clashes ahead of SDPI rally

However, police said a few of them were dragged and their uniforms were torn off.

KOZHIKODE: Three policemen were injured in a clash with IUML workers, ahead of the SDPI rally that was supposed to have taken out through Velam, Kuttiady. Considering the volatile situation, police diverted the rally that started in Velam. Police had prior information that there would be clashes between the SDPI and IUML workers and they informed IUML workers to disperse. However, police said a few of them were dragged and their uniforms were torn off.

Policeman from Special Branch, Suresh and Vipin and Ranjith from KAP were injured. However IUML workers said that the police provoked them. The official vehicle of Perambra CI Sunil Kumar and vehicles from KAP were destroyed.
