Job notifications for Telangana government posts likely after Sagar bypoll

Official sources said highest number of vacancies of over 20,000 existed in the police department pertaining to constables and SIs

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has submitted a report to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on vacancies in government departments for taking up recruitment drives.

The CM is to review the schedule for issuing the job notifications in a day or two. The first job notification is expected to be issued soon after polling for the Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency byelection on April 17.

Official sources said over 55,000 vacancies have been identified to be filled, with the most vacancies in the police department. The report was compiled by the Chief Secretary after obtaining data from secretaries of all government departments.

An additional 5,000 vacancies at the lower levels arose following promotions given to employees following a recent initiative of the government. It is expected that another 5,000 vacancies will be created after taking up promotions for teachers in the school education department.

In all, 60,000 vacancies will be notified in a phased manner.

A significant number of vacancies were also identified in education, medical and health, revenue, municipal administration, agriculture and irrigation departments.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minisster had announced in the ongoing Budget session of the Legislative Assembly that the government would fill up over 50,000 vacancies soon. It was also the major poll promise of the TRS during the recently held Legislative Council elections to the two graduates contituencies, which the party won.
