Malakpet cops rescue kidnapped girl within 24 hours
HYDERABAD: In a remarkably swift action, Malakpet police rescued a girl within 24 hours after she was kidnapped. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday at Moosarambagh under Malakpet police limits.
A two-and-half years old daughter of rag pickers, the girl was abducted when she was sleeping along with her parents on the pavement near a bank at Moosarambagh.
Her father Sudugu Ajay, a native of Jangaon, migrated to the city a decade back, and has been living on pavements, ever since.
On Wednesday, Ajay and his wife Laxmi along with their daughter at around 10 pm. Ajay’s friend Raju also was with them on the pavement. Around 1.30 am Raju woke up and found his daughter missing. He woke up the couple and the three searched the surroundings.
The parents went to the police station and lodged a complaint at 3.30 am on Thursday. Police teams started verifying CCTV footage in the surrounding areas. They noticed a person on a two-wheeler riding with the girl. The police detained the accused from his home at Golnaka at around 6 pm.
The accused is identified as 29-year-old autorickshaw driver Kalavala Sravan Kumar, a native of Bijinepally mandal of Mahbubnagar.
Sravan hatched a plan to kidnap the girl from the pavement and sell her somewhere.
