HYDERABAD: A division bench of Telangana High Court, comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, stalled registration and constructions on the 29 acres and 26 guntas of land falling in Survey No.s 186 to 189 of Vattinagulapally village, Gandipet mandal, Ranga Reddy district, till further orders.
The bench was dealing with a PIL filed by Prof. K. Purushottam Reddy (retd), who urged the court to take action against officers for allowing and permitting registrations and constructions over the said land in spite of prohibitory orders issued under Section22 of the Registrations Act.
Chinnolla Naresh Reddy, counsel for the petitioner, submitted that the total extent of the land in the said survey numbers was around 56 acres and over 29 acres had been surrendered to the Bhoodan Board.
After confirming it from the revenue department that the land is in the prohibited list under Section22-A, the bench issued notices to the Chief Secretary, the revenue principal secretary, the Ranga Reddy collector and those connected to revenue officials and registration department, directing them to respond to the notices duly explaining the reasons behind the continuance of the registrations on the lands, despite the fact that prohibitory orders are in place restraining officials from permitting any private persons from registering lands and resorting to constructions.
