Kozhikode: Calicut University on Monday presented actor Mohanlal and Olympian P.T. Usha with a DLitt for their contributions in their respective fields. Mohanlal said that he wished to dedicate the honour to the characters and the makers of the characters that made him immortal on screen. For Usha, the moment was unforgettable. Governor P Sathasivam presented the honours.
He said, “Mohanlal and Usha encouraged youngsters through their respective fields and contented life. Calicut University proved its merit by honouring the duo, who are deeply loved by the people of Kerala,” said the Governor.
Education Minister C. Raveendranath honoured the achievements as something gained through hard work. He hoped that in future also they would continue to inspire youngsters. Calicut University is honouring the masters in their particular fields as part of their 100th anniversary celebrations. The event was attended by vice-chancellor K. Mohammed Basheer, pro vice-chancellor P. Mohan and registrar TA Abdul Majeed.
