Mpower to touch lives of differently-abled children

The campaign is being supported by magician Gopinath Muthukad's Magic Academy.

Kozhikode: On Monday, 400 intellectually-challenged and differently-abled children, aged 10 to 18, will attend a training programme at Magic Academy and from whom 40 selected children will form a magic group, according to Kerala Social Security Mission that organizes the campaign, ‘Mpower’. The ‘M’ in Mpower stands for Magic, said Social security mission executive director Mohammed Asheel. The campaign is being supported by magician Gopinath Muthukad’s Magic Academy. Team ‘Mpower’ would be launched on June 7.

“The Academy plans four months training for the children. The team will function as ambassadors for our ‘Anuyatra’ campaign, aimed at creating awareness about differently-abled persons. When these special children spread awareness, the message will become effective. Magic needs both speed and dexterity, which the children will acquire through training,” said Dr Asheel. Through Anuyathra campaign the children will crisscross the state. The training programme enlisted only those children willing to stay in Thiruvananthapuram for four months, said the officials.
