LDF government to clear roads for investment
Kozhikode: Widening of roads is the first prerequisite for industrial development of the state, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was speaking after inaugurating Parakadavu bridge that links Kunnamangalam grama panchayat with Kuruvattur grama panchayat here on Sunday. Mr. Vijayan said that widening works should not be limited to National Highways, state and district roads should also get their due. He added that the government is presently stressing on maintenance and repair works of roads and in the previous budget, a whopping Rs 1206 crore has been allocated exclusively for development of roads and bridges.
"Once the issue of road development is settled, I hope that the state will make a big leap in industrial and state sectors," he said. The Public Works Department is busy giving facelift to existing roads, government buildings and bridges, the Chief Minister said. The ceremony was presided over by A.K. Saseendran, MLA, P.T.A. Raheem, MLA, and Kunnamangalam block panchayat president Ramya Haridas.
