Security beefed up at Sabarimala
Sabarimala: Chief police coordinator of Sabarimala ADGP Sudhesh Kumar said the police force was ready to face any eventuality at the Sabarimala hill shrine during the ongoing festival. The police had made extensive security arrangements. Besides the state police, there are 250 commandos of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), and 90 officials from the National Disaster Management Authority personnel guarding the temple and its precincts. Apart from this, the plainclothes Intelligence Bureau officers are also roaming around.
Speaking to DC, he said the police had a 24-hour CCTV facility to monitor movements of the pilgrims, and the main access points from Pampa and the forest area to the temple were under constant surveillance. Meanwhile, a new police force has taken charge at Sannidhanam, under special officer P.K. Madhu. The use of mobile phones has been strictly banned for officers on duty.
