More bombs seized from Onchiyam
KOZHIKODE: The police has recovered three more bombs from Onchiyam, on Tuesday, bringing the number of countrymade bombs seized in the last two days to 10. Vadakara DySP said that the combing operations would continue in Onchiyam and surrounding areas in the light of the recent blasts and political violence in the area. Meanwhile, the locals complained that the police did not act in the case where a blast took place on November 18 on the premises of a CPM branch secretary’s house. They also alleged that the police gave the house owner ample time to clear the area and tamper with the evidence after the blast.
However, DySP T.P. Premarajan dismissed the allegations, saying that the police was probing all the attacks and seizures. More seizures indicated that the police was active in the area. About the tampering of evidence, he said that the blast area, where the explosion had taken place was on the border of a plot which was shared by the CPM leader, and was still to be cleared. RMP alleged that the probe against the attackers of their workers Rajeesh and Vishnu in Kunnummakkara was leading nowhere. Seven countrymade bombs and nearly 15 GI pipes were recovered from Onchiyam on Monday.
