Thiruvananthapuram: The state government is hosting the first edition of a global digital summit in Kochi on March 22 and 23 to discuss emerging digital trends and to establish a network of global technology leaders with Kerala roots. Top global leaders of the IT industry are expected to speak at the event which would be attended by about 2,000 professionals. Releasing the logo of the event titled ‘#future’, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the event was aimed at promoting Kerala IT at the international level in a big way. He said that similar events would be held once in two years.

The High Power IT Committee (HPIC) headed by Infosys founder member S. D. Shibulal had mooted the global digital summit. IBS founder and executive chairman V. K. Mathews, a member of HPIC and convener of the event, said that the state was hosting the event at a time when the IT sector was facing major challenges ranging from visa restrictions, economic constraints and automation. The event would not be limited only to IT, but would have discussions on digital trends in sectors like education, health, IT, hospitality and travel. “There will be participation of top leaders of the global IT industry. But we will be able to make formal announcements about this only at a later stage,” said Mr. Mathews.
