Kochi: A police constable was admitted to hospital with serious injuries after an accused attacked him inside Kalamassery police station. The cops nabbed one Babu Paul for creating a public nuisance. Rexin, the cop who suffered injuries, needed seven stitches. SI E.V. Shibu and his team arrested one Babu Paul on Sunday night after he attacked three persons at Vidakkuzhy in Kalamassery. When the cops tried to nab the accused, he attacked the police party.
Rexin Peduthas who was with the police team was attacked and suffered facial injuries. He was taken to a private hospital in Kalamassery for treatment. Rexin needed seven stitches and was not able to eat. Siblings Murali, Venu and Maneesh were attacked initially. Babu Paul also attacked several other persons.
According to police, a dispute with regard to posters of political parties led to the tussle. After getting a call, the cops reached the spot to monitor the situation. The siblings were later admitted to the Kalamassery Medical College Hospital. Cops slapped two cases against Babu Paul who is also a native of Vidakkuzha. The police produced him before the trial court on Monday and he was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
