Let's make Bengaluru IT ready: Priyank Kharge
Bengaluru: “As IT services-based industry, we have matured a lot. It’s time for us to see what the next big thing for Bengaluru could be. We realised that today, IT is in every sector, including aerospace, robotics, artificial intelligence and many others. So, we’ve come up with a multi-sector startup policy to reach out to all these sectors and become future ready,” said Mr Priyank Kharge, the IT & BT and Tourism minister of the state, at the ITE.biz event, which was inaugurated on Monday at the Palace Grounds.
This year’s theme for the mega event is ‘Define the Next’. In its 19th edition, the event saw participation of industry leaders, MNCs and startups that focus on emerging technologies, like artificial intelligence, robotics, Internet of Things, Big Data, virtual reality, animation, visual effects and gaming, app development, startups and entrepreneurship development.
The three-day event focused on the booming animation, visual effects, gaming and comics (AVGC) industry in the state. “I see great potential in the animation industry as we focus on creative disruption rather than disruptive innovation. We also have an AVGC policy to create more jobs,” Mr Kharge said.
The government has been trying to raise Rs 400 crore for startups, while also funding as many as eight startups through the tourism department. The event also brought Tier Two cities, like Mysuru, Mangaluru, Belagavi, Hubballi and Kalaburagi under the spotlight as they have the potential to rise to the level of Bengaluru in investments terms.
