Immersion Procession Takes Tragic Turn with Four Accidental Deaths

HYDERABAD: The joy and merriment of Ganesh idol immersion took a tragic turn with the untimely death of four boys in separate accidents. All the four heart-breaking incidents occurred during the procession leaving their families in shatters.

In the first incident, a four-year-old boy fell from a moving truck, sustained severe head injuries and succumbed to his injuries.

Shabaz, a 24-year-old from Bandlaguda, accompanying his friends, fell from the vehicle carrying the idol at Basheerbagh around 3 am on Friday. He came under the wheels of the vehicle and was severely injured. He died while undergoing treatment at Osmania general hospital.

In another incident, 17-year-old Puneeth from Bahadurpura fell from the vehicle and died Thursday midnight on the PVNR Marg. While returning home, he and two other boys got down from the vehicle to relieve themselves. While getting into the vehicle, he accidentally slipped and fell on the road and died on the spot.

In an incident at Ibrahimpatnam, 14-year-old Shehnaaz, full of life and enthusiasm while participating in the festive procession, was atop a tanker along with others. He lost his balance, had a massive fall and suffered severe head injuries leading to his immediate death.
