Plea seeks probe into ASI contract award

HYDERABAD: A petition in the Telangana High Court sought a probe by the Central Vigilance Commission into a digitalisation contract of over Rs 5.61 crore awarded by the Archaeological Survey of India to M/s Giopel Import Export Private Limited, in alleged violation of norms.

Advocate Prem Kumar Pothina, representing Ravi Press Photo, the petitioner in the case, challenged the award and contended that the qualification of the beneficiary tenderer was not taken into account.

Further, he alleged that the Government e-Marketplace route was avoided and that the same could not be done, unless under exceptional circumstances.

Pothina highlighted that an earlier tender of Rs 1.5 crore for digitalising 74,000 e-stampages was cancelled and a high-value contract of over Rs 5.61 crore was issued for digitalising 1 lakh e-stampages.
