Commissioner set to take over all unfilled medical seats in Kerala

The managements opposed the move as it was a “violation of the agreement with the governmentâ€.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Supreme Court verdict to transfer vacant seats in self-financing medical colleges to the common counselling process has resulted in a conflict between the managements and the state government.

With the SC allowing the takeover of the vacant seats, the Commissioner for entrance examinations has asked the managements to immediately report the number of vacant seats.

However, the managements opposed the move as it was a “violation of the agreement with the government”. The commissioner was adamant and insisted that whatever be the clause of the agreement, they would have to go by the verdict of the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, health minister K.K. Shylaja welcomed the SC verdict.
