Charankumar seeks bail in Porsche mishap case
Chennai: T.Charankumar, a passenger in a Porsche car, driven by reigning car champion Vikash Anand at a high speed in an inebriated condition, which mowed down an auto driver on September 19 in the city, has approached the Madras high court, seeking bail.
A single judge, before whom the bail petition filed by Charankumar came up for hearing on Wednesday, adjourned it to September 30. In his petition, Charankumar submitted that he was arrested by the Adyar police on September 19. The prosecution case was that on September 19 at 3 am. he was said to have travelled as passenger along with Vikash Anand who was driving the car which met with an accident.
It was alleged that Vikash Anand under the influence of alcohol was said to have driven the vehicle in rash and negligent manner and thereby lost his control in a curve road and dashed against the medium of the road and due to the impact, the vehicle turned left and dashed against the autos parked on the left side of the road. In the accident, one person died, 8 persons got injured and the autos parked on the road were also damaged.
The averment made against him was that he was also travelling as passenger under the influence of alcohol along with Vikash Anand and thereby abetted Vikash Anand who drove the car which caused the accident, he added.
