HMRL chief's team gets ADB grant for Metro study

HYDERABAD: The Asian Development Bank has awarded a grant of $390,000 (about Rs 3.32 crores) to a team of BITS-Pilani Hyderabad, IIT-Bombay and IIT-Kharagpur experts that is being guided by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited managing director N.V.S. Reddy to develop technology-based solutions to enhance last mile security and safety of Metro Rail and public transit systems,

The grant is intended to fund the development and testing of a model for public transport systems in Hyderabad so that it can be replicated in other cities if successful, a statement said.

On Monday, DGP Anjani Kumar and N.V.S. Reddy attended a workshop on the BITS-Pilani Hyderabad campus. Anjani Kumar advised the team to develop good solutions and promised full support from the police. Reddy said the HMRL and the police were working together on initiatives like CCTV surveillance systems.
