GHMC contractors are going to stage a protest in front of the corporation's headquarters from 11 am at Hyderabad on Tuesday
Hyderabad: Around 200 maintenance contractors attached to GHMC will stage a protest in front of the corporation’s headquarters from 11 am here on Tuesday demanding immediate release of unpaid bills totalling a claimed '9,000 crore that have accrued in the last one year.
The contractors alleged that bills of the bigger groups and builders were being cleared while bills of ‘small’ contractors were kept pending. Narrating their woes, Surender Singh, general secretary of the GHMC Contractors Association, told this correspondent “these pertain to works we completed last August of which the audit was done in January. However, the payments are pending. More than 20 workers are attached to each contractor. Some contractors take loans or mortgage property to execute the project. The GHMC should clear all our pending bills and stop being biased,” he said.
