Organic material unit in Cherlapally gutted
The fire also extended to a borewell company which was right next to the organic material processing and storage unit.

Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at an organic material processing and storage unit in Cherlapally Industrial Area on Wednesday morning. There were four employees in the warehouse at the time of the accident, but all of them escaped unhurt. Fire officials had to use the help of five fire engines before the fire could be doused. Approximately Rs. 30 cr. worth property was lost due to the fire.
According to a fire official they received a fire alert at around 5 am on Wednesday at the Cheralapally fire station which is just half a kilometre away from the mishap spot. The firefighters rushed to the spot along with two fire engines. Since there was plastic and paper in the unit, the fire spread easily. The fire also extended to a borewell company which was right next to the organic material processing and storage unit.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, S Sridhar Reddy, district fire officer of the erstwhile Rangareddy district said, “As the impact of the fire was very high and couldn’t be controlled with two fire engines, we called for another three engines from Malkajgiri, Secunderabad, and Hyathnagar. Around five fire officials, 30 firefighters along with five engines were pressed for the day-long work of dousing the fire.”
One of the firefighters who worked to douse the fire said, “Most of the buildings in this area are very old. Safety measures are very poor in the building. The unit has only one side opening while all the other three sides are closed. It became difficult to douse the fire from those three sides. However the four employees who were present at the time of mishap escaped unhurt.”
“Every week on Friday we conduct awareness program for the companies in the surrounding areas about the safety precautions to be taken”, he added.
