Hyderabad: Cops nab man for stealing police vehicle

The police traced the location of the vehicle with the help of General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) application and apprehended him.

Hyderabad: Rachakonda traffic police nabbed a person who committed the theft of a Blue Colt (a two wheeler). The police traced the location of the vehicle with the help of General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) application and apprehended him.

According to the police, on late Tuesday night, two-wheeler offender Madhu committed a theft of a Blue Colt (a police vehicle) of Chaderghat PS of Hyderabad city and fled.

As the vehicle was GPRS equipped, the police could track it soon. The Hyderabad police informed the Rachakonda Traffic control room about bike offender and the message was passed on to the LB Nagar traffic police. The location of the vehicle was updated minute to minute by the traffic police on duty.

They laid a trap and intercepted the accused and apprehended him at LB Nagar Ring Road and handed him over to Hyderabad city police for further action.

Rachakonda CP Mahesh Bhagwat, rewarded LB Nagar traffic SI of Police, Narashimhulu, AR PC Arun Goud, and driver Ravinder with cash rewards for their timely action.

In this case, the GPRS application played a vital role in apprehending the accused immediately, added the police official.
