Professionals flock to Kerala police
Thiruvananthapuram: Nine MBA holders, three MTech degree holders, an MPhil holder, 15 BTech holders and 60 post-graduates were among the 555 police constables who passed out on Thursday after training. While addressing the new recruits, Chief Minister Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan said that with the entry of highly educated personnel into the police force, right from bottom levels, there was considerable improvement in the professionalism and attitude of the force in general.
“Our aim is to have a situation where women and children can walk into a police station without any fear,” he said. The new recruits also included 209 degree holders, two of them having degree in law, six BEd holders and one BBA holder. In the previous batches of police constables also there were a good number of highly-educated personnel even as the minimum qualification required was plus-two or equivalent.
While calling upon the fresh cops to be fair and free from corruption in their duties, the Chief Minister also stressed the need for cops to maintain physical fitness. He also inspected the marchpast and received the salute. State police chief Loknath Behera , ADGP armed police battalions Nithin Agarwal and other senior police officers were present on the occasion.
