Thiruvananthapuram: The byelection saw people in gramapanchayats coming out in droves to vote. Thottumukku ward in Tholicode gramapanchayat registered high polling percentage - 76.38 %. Of the 1,681 voters in the list, 1,284 registered their votes. This consisted 733 female voters and 551 male voters. Bypoll was also held at Akkaravila ward in Vettoor gramapanchayath. 73.13 % of the 1366 voted. 613 voters were women.
The counting will start at 8 pm. For Thottumukku ward, the counting will be at Vocational HSS, Vellanad; for Akkaravila ward, it will be at SN College, Varkala. The counting for Pappanamcode ward in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation will be held at Swathi Thirunal College of Music. The overall percentage of polling in the state was 76.81 % during the bypolls. Mulamkunnu ward in Idukki's Kokkayar gramapanchayath and Omasseri East in Kozhikode's Omasseri gramapanchayath was heaviest - 85.85% and 85.76% respectively.
